Dr. Barry Dale Lloyd Hubbard

June 1, 1943 ~ March 19, 2016 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Dr. Barry D.L. Hubbard -

2 Timothy 4: 7 - 8
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the
righteous Judge, will award to me on that day --and not only to me, but also to all
who have longed for his appearing."

Though we rejoice with Barry that He is no longer suffering and in pain that He lives, He is strong and sitting at the feet of His Saviour - absent from the body and present with the Lord", we are saddened that we have lost our husband, father, brother, good friend.  We announce Barry's passage into Eternity at the age of 72, surrounded by family in the palliative care center at the Battlefords Union Hospital, following a brief struggle with Cancer. Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and good friend, he was the son of Roy and Helene Hubbard, who later married Al Weisbrodt. Having spent his childhood in various cities in Saskatchewan and later earning a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at the University of Regina, Barry moved to Saskatoon to study medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in 1965 -1969. It was in Saskatoon, as a boarder in Guelda Bergman's home, that Barry met his future wife, Guelda's daughter, Gail. They were married in Calgary, AB in 1970, where Barry completed his residency at the Foothills Hospital.  During this time, Barry and Gail grew in their relationship with each other and in their faith in Jesus Christ, which sustained them through 46 years of marriage.

After 6 years as a General Practictioner in Regina, Barry decided to take a Specialty in Pathology at University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon 1976 - 1980.  After graduating as a General Pathologist he worked in Prince Albert Victoria Union Hospital.  To obtain his Fellowship in Pathology he became a resident in General Pathology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. So the family (Barry, Gail and their three children, Brian, Jill and Glenn) moved to Burlington, Ontario l983 - l985.  After completing his Residency in General Pathology he accepted the position of Director of Pathology at the Battleford Union Hospital (North Battleford) in 1985, retiring in 2009.

Active in the Territorial Drive Alliance Church, Barry enjoyed gardening, a North Star Season Ticket Holder for 30 years, flying his Cessna 172, Tennis, travelling and learning. An avid reader and Consumer of knowledge, Barry was fueled with a desire to understand the world around him. When undertaking any task, Barry would thoroughly research and prepare for any and all possibilities, leaving nothing to chance. He was the consummate carer and provider for his family, upon whom he doted.

Barry was predeceased by his mother Helene, his step father Al Weisbrodt, his brothers Bruce and Perry.

He is survived by his wife, Gail; his children, Brian, Jill and Glenn (Mary Ann); his grandchildren, John and Anna; his sisters, Deanna and Debbie; and his neice, Leah.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Territorial Drive Alliance Church with Pastor Keith Klippenstein and Dr. Abraham Ninan officiating.
