Welcome to the memorial page for

Edward Lalonde

April 13, 2017

Edward Leroy Lalonde was born on June 4, 1955, in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. He spent the first ten years of his life on the family farm in Makwa, and moved with the family to Victoire, Saskatchewan, in 1965 when his dad, Albert Lalonde, purchased the Pelletier Store. He was born a twin, the ninth child in a family of seventeen children. Following his graduation, he worked for five years as cashier and truck driver at Victoire Store. Following that, he spent time in Deep River, Ontario, where he took schooling in hotel management, but life took him on a different path. When he returned to Saskatchewan, he and his twin shared a business venture in Christopher Lake for a time, and then he went to be resident baker at his brother's store in Buffalo Narrows. The call of the North was so strong for him; so strong that he spent thirty or so years north of the 55th parallel! He was a quiet, introspective and fiercely loyal man, and he had his passions. To name a few: he was a devoted fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the NDP; he was a follower of the chuck wagon circuit and aboriginal festivals. He loved fishing and family get-togethers, the colour orange, MBC radio and his phone. He remained faithful to his Catholic faith. He suffered so much in silence in the latter years; he lost his eye sight, battled lymphoma, diabetes and congestive heart failure. He survived heart by-pass surgery and succumbed to complications on April 13th, 2017 at 10:30 am. He died peacefully in the presence of some of his siblings.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ruby Lalonde. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Tashina of San Fransisco, his son, Waylon, and his grandson, Kenyon of Meadow Lake; his siblings: Anita, Elaine, Janette,  Marilyn, Irene, Olive, Eugene, Rose, Bernard, Sylvia, Jerome, Rodrigue, Michelle, Aline, Normand, and Albert, along with their spouses; his nieces and nephews, his "northern family” and all his friends.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 10:00 am on Friday, April 21st to 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 22nd, at the farmhouse of Eugene Lalonde, 3km north of Debden. The funeral will take place at Notre Dame des Victoires Church in Victoire, Saskatchewan, on Saturday, April 22nd at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow in Victoire Cemetery. Lunch will follow in the church basement. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Trevor Watts of Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium.
