Barry Ellis Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce that Barry Ellis passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.  Barry was born on August 21, 1955 in Balcarres, Saskatchewan to the late Douglas and Lillian Ellis.  He attended Balcarres High School (class of 1973) and after graduating, he farmed with his Dad.  He was active in all the family farm activities, including grain seeding and harvesting, egg layer production, leaf-cutter bee and alfalfa seed production, and beef cattle production.  His passion was in raising the Hereford beef cows and their calves.  We also remember him as the “parts person” and helping with machinery repairs.  For this expertise, he attended Saskatchewan Polytechnic School - Moose Jaw Campus and received a welding certificate.  Barry played high school hockey; he was an avid curler; and he played the trumpet in the school band.  In his later years, Barry was a resident of the Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford.

Barry is survived by his sisters, Wendy (Ross) Percifield; Marlene (Moe) Emara; and Marilyn Aries; a nephew, Robert (Joelle) Christensen; two nieces, Christina and Isabel Dennis; a grand-nephew, Jordan; and a grand-niece, Brelynn.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Douglas, his brothers, Bruce and Rick, and his sister, Nancy.  Barry will be dearly missed by his sisters, numerous cousins, friends, and the many workers at the Saskatchewan Hospital who became a part of Barry’s life and graciously provided care and friendship to him.  A special thanks to all of them.

A grave site service and interment will be held at the Regina Memorial Gardens on Oct. 16, 2024at 10 am.
