Edward Sheremeta Obituary

We are here to pay respects to a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Ed was born in 1930 in Tarnopol Saskatchewan to parents Paul and Mary. He was the youngest of 3 boys. Ed grew up in Yellow Creek and in 1950 he left the farm and went to work for Sask Power. He married Mary Sabadash from Yellow Creek in 1957.

Before they got married Ed and Mary on one particular date were driving in his model A car and his lights burnt out. No, this was not to get fresh with Mary although they never told us REALLY the whole story. So, Mary the good little helper she was, sitting in the passenger seat, had to stick her head out of the window to tell him where to go, and she had been doing it ever since.

After they were married, they moved to Saskatoon to a house on Taylor Street.  There they started their family and had two girls, Lori and then Melody.  They were part of the Nutana Congregation until 1965.  They then moved to Winnipeg Avenue and were associated with the Mount Royal and then Riversdale congregations.  There they expanded the family to two more children.  Finally, a boy came along, Sheldon, and then another girl Colleen.
They made this house on Winnipeg Avenue their home and raised their four children there.

Ed was a spiritual man who valued his relationship with Jehovah. He always loved what he read from the Bible and talked to everyone, I mean everyone about what he knew. It showed because while he was still working, he would auxiliary pioneer whenever he could, and he would have the whole family pioneering with him. Ed instilled the love of Jehovah into the hearts of each of his children. Ed joined Mary in regular pioneering when he retired at the age of 60. Shortly after, they moved to a congregation in Wainwright Alberta to pioneer. They were there for a few years, then moved to North Battleford Saskatchewan where they settled down till until his passing.

Ed loved to help out with theocratic assignments, not only serving as a servant in the congregation, but also pioneering with his family. (in out-of-town territory?) Ed also worked tirelessly in the trucking department and other departments at the assemblies every year, with his whole family.
Ed loved his family and when they went somewhere the family was always together. So Jehovah and his family were first in his life.

Ed is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary, and his children Lori (Rod), Melody (Mike), Sheldon (Candace), and Colleen (Cameron).  Ed was also blessed with 2 grandchildren Cody and Kayla (Trevyn).

Ed leaves as a legacy his entire family serving Jehovah faithfully in various congregations in Canada.
