Merle Wickstrand

With broken hearts we are sad to announce the sudden passing of Merle Wickstrand on August 22, 2025 at the age of 59.

Merle leaves behind his loving wife, Shona; son, Zackari Wickstrand; step-daughter, Courtney Wilson and her children: Max, Peyton and Brantley; and step-son, Tyler Wilson.

Merle and Zackari shared the love of the outdoors, whether it was camping, hunting or fishing. Merle was very proud of Zack and his many accomplishments. Courtney and Tyler knew they could always count on Merle for anything. Merle was the best  Grandpa, driving lessons and fishing with Max, especially since they shared a wicked sense of humor. Taking the twins, Peyton and Brantley on walks to check the crops, playing with play dough, or filling up the bird feeders, time with Grandpa was always a treat. 

Merle was loved by his family and friends and we will cherish his memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Ruby Powder at LoveMyMind.ca Ruby and her family are very special to Zackari.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. held at the Third Avenue United Church in the Wesley Hall.  A Private Family interment will follow at the Willowmoor Cemetery.
