It is with heavy hearts that the adopted family of Mr. Gordon Fitz-Gerald Yarde announce his departure from the world to his heavenly home on Sunday, August 20, 2023. A Funeral Service for Gordon will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 - 1:00 p.m. at St. Georges Anglican Church.
Gordon was born in Barbados on June 20, 1938. He left Barbados in 1960 to go to England to work the buses. In 1974 he came to Canada with no intentions of staying longer than 6 months. Having been schooled in nursing in England be applied for a position in Brandon, Manitoba. He arrived in Saskatchewan and started working at the Saskatchewan Hospital in 1977. He served on town council in Town of Battleford from 1985-1991 and 1994-2006 and returning to council in 2012. Gordon was involved in multiple service organizations in the Battlefords. Gordon became a Deacon when he was 77 years old and was actively involved in the church.
Gordon was a man of deep faith who would help anyone who needed it. He believed God would provide and always was willing to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by friends and community.
