Ronald Hanson Obituary

It is with sadness the family of Ronald E. Hanson announces his passing.  Ron died peacefully in Maidstone Hospital with his family by his side.  Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marlene, his daughter Tracy (Dewayne), and his son Leland (Evelyn).  He also leaves to mourn his six grandchildren who were the light of his life, Angel (Jeremy), Morgan (Darren), Halie, Brenna, Joseph, Quinn, one great grandchild, Imogene, his uncle Fred (Dorothy) Schmidt, and his sister-in-law, Holly (Dale) Brewster.  Ron was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Hilda Hanson, his brother Garry Hanson, his brother-in-law, Gary McCracken, and his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Thelma McCracken.

Ron was born on October 27, 1938, in Ruddell, SK.  He spent his early years in Denholm before moving to Paynton.  When he was 16, he worked as a gravel hauler in Kindersley, and often fondly talked about those days. He then worked on the highways, and one winter on a pipeline. He farmed with his parents for many years before their passing and then took over the farm.  In 1961 he married Marlene McCracken and they welcomed Tracy to the family in 1968 and Leland in 1973.

Ron’s interests throughout the years were ball, minor hockey, cards, reading, puzzles, carpentry, fishing, visiting, and traveling.  In 2016, Ron and Marlene moved to North Battleford where they enjoyed new friendships and many cups of coffee.  Ron will be missed, but we are grateful for the time we have had with him.

The family will be having a private graveside service at a later date.

The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care and attention Ron received at both the Battlefords Union Hospital and the Maidstone Hospital.  If desired, memorial gifts may made to either of these institutions in Ron’s name.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Trevor Watts of Eternal Memories Funeral Service and Crematorium.
