Theresa Kolberg

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Theresa Kolberg announce her passing on May 17, 2025 at the age of 66 years.

Theresa was the ninth child born to Betty and Adam Keller. She grew up on the family farm south of Battleford until Adam's retirement when Betty and Adam with Theresa, Marianne and Kathleen moved to Battleford.

Theresa was proud of her large family and often brought it up as it was such a great conversation starter. From her mom, Theresa learned how to cook for a crowd and this skill came in handy for the rest of her life as she was always hosting one gathering or another. Whether it was friends or family or some mix up that only Theresa could mastermind she was never happier than when her house was filled to the rafters.

Theresa met Weldon through mutual friends and very quickly they fell in love and were married. In November of 1988 she gave birth to Ian – he was her greatest joy and she reveled in being his mother and supported him in every aspect of his life until his sudden death in June of 2024 – her greatest sorrow.

A second chance at love appeared in the form of Terry Strueby. They had always been friends, as Theresa would harass him when he came to the high school to repair phones, and when their paths crossed again in 2010, they soon became inseparable.

With Terry came an opportunity to travel and explore the world and that they did. They planned a life together thinking they would tease each other into old age but that was not to be the case.  In August of 2024 Theresa was dealt another blow when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

With the unwavering support of Terry, their families, and Theresa’s multitude of friends Theresa fought hard to beat her illness. Throughout that fight she maintained her sense of humor but also often questioned the fairness of life. What she settled on is; life is not always fair but it is full of beautiful moments and those moments must be celebrated.

A Celebration of Life for Theresa will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Twin Rivers Curling Club North Battleford, SK.
