With deep sorrow we announce the passing of William Anthony Labbe. William was known to his friends as “Willie” and affectionately known as “Uncle” to his many nieces and nephews. He was born in North Battleford in 1935, after his parents came from Quebec in 1926. He was seventh in line of eight children. He spent eighty-nine plus years never venturing far from home. “Uncle” was a people person, speaking French, Cree, and English to people in the area. Language was never an obstacle for him as he was a positive minded person who cared deeply for his fellow man.
Left to carry on in his name are his daughter: Betty and grandsons, Kenny and Daniel of North Battleford. The two nieces and two nephews here in North Battleford will miss him terribly as we were lucky enough to look to our uncle as a second father after we lost our dad (Uncle’s brother) twelve years ago.
Rest in peace our sweet “Uncle Ahh-Haa”
In keeping with Williams wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the columbarium section at the City Cemetery in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
