My deepest condolences to Aspyn and the rest of the family. Darcee, as I've gotten to know her, was a kind soul, it was very clear how much she loved her family and how proud she was of her Aspyn. I knew Darcee growing up and recently we reconnected online, we had many conversations and she often offered me words of advice in dealing with the passing of my older brother. Here is an excerpt from one of our conversations which sums up Darcee's caring personality:

"If you ever need a sounding board, someone to text you thoughts to please don't hesitate to send me a note. And those unbearable days or nights when you are sobbing and your heart feels like it's breaking all over again will become fewer. Hugs to you always and hang in there."

I am so glad that I had the privilege of knowing Darcee, I wish her loved ones strength and comfort during this difficult time.

To Those I Love And Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness

I thank you for the love you have shown
But now it’s time I traveled alone
So grieve a while for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It’s only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart
I won’t be far away. For life goes on

So if you need me call and I will come
Though you can’t see or touch me I’ll be there
And if you listen with your heart you’ll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear
And then when you must come this way alone
I’ll greet you with a smile and welcome you home ~Author Unknown

Our sincerest condolences to all of Darcee's family and friends. I met Darcee while she was working for the Heart of the Old North West and I was working for Prairie Schooner Travel Region. We had many great times together while we were working in Tourism in Saskatchewan. Over the years we kept in touch and recently were able to get together and catch up in person. Darcee was always so positive and brightened everyone's day just by being present. She was also a fantastic mother who loved Aspyn a great deal. I am going to miss my friend.
With great sadness,
Donna Johnston-Genest
